Here are a few opinions after watching the tourneys from around the country and also looking at UCLA’s potential draws:
- UCLA will definitely be a #1 seed in the West, and most likely the #2 seed overall behind UNC (they just beat Clemson).
- I would rather have UCLA be the #2 overall seed, because they are likely to be paired up with Memphis as a potential Final 4 matchup. If Kansas beats Texas, Kansas will likely be a #1 seed, #4 overall and matched with the overall #1 seed (UNC). Good, because Kansas fears me the most.
- A few teams that scare me a bit if the Bruins were to play them - Louisville, Georgetown, Kansas, Tennessee. I dont really fear UNC and Duke - they dont play D and they dont have the athletes to break us down (UCLA has looked the most vulnerable when there are athletic guards or wings can break us down in isolation off the dribble or with athletic bigs who can face up or make a quit cut to the hoop when Love hedges). And by the way, the ACC is overrated. You will see.
- All this talk about the Pac 10 being overrated is overrated. We shall see in the tourney, but there is no other league with more lottery picks and NBA guys that the Pac - Harden, Lopez, Lopez, Bayless, Budinger, Collison, Westbrook, Love, Shipp (i cringe as I write that), Luc, Hardin, Anderson, Mayo, Gibson, Jefferson, Mitch Johnson.
Are you kidding me??? The most talented conference by far is the Pac 10! It isnt even close. And in the tourney, TALENT means the most. And they call it the “eye” test, but ASU, Arizona, and Oregon can beat most of the teams in the tourney after I saw them play. I am picking every Pac 10 team to win in round 1 and I am confident they will back me up. By the way, I was kidding about Mitch. He really, really sucks.
