After the hiring of Norm Chow, here are my thoughts:
1. Norm Chow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best offensive mind in the game today! Are you kidding me?
2. Slick Rick Neuheisel is the man. To keep Dewayne Walker and now to get Norm Chow, both who interviewed for the same job, is a testament to his sweet talking skills. He is the dynamic personality that we need, after years of Dorrell, to go up against Pete Carroll and the evil empire that is USC.
3. We have two NFL offensive coordinators on our coaching staff. As of one month ago, Slick Rick and Norm were leading NFL teams. Now they are on our staff. Geezus. Someone pinch me now. They have been gameplanning against the Patriots, Jaguars, and Colts…and now they will be going against the Beavers, the Ducks and Sun Devils. To put it lightly, this would be considered a drop in class.
4. This is the 2nd best coaching trio in all of football, behind the New England Patriots. Whether the dream team will stay together or mesh well is still up in the air, but on paper, this is a very formidable trio. UCLA’s recruiting classes in 2009 and 2010 should be top notch. You have NFL guys telling kids they know how to get guys to the NFL. You have Norm. And of course, you have Slick Rick sweet talking the parents. If he can convince 2 grown men who are coaching gurus to become his assistants, what do you think he is going to do with a high school kid. I am now positive that Rick got an insane amount of chicks in college. The guy knows how to talk.
5. Ben Olson is officially the sleeper for the 2008 Heisman. But seriously, this could literally be a life changing moment for Olson after 3 years of tough luck and poor coaching.
6. Pat Cowan could become the next Steve Young. But seriously, he led the Bruins to a win over SC with KARL DORRELL as coach. If he plays, I am expecting big things.
7. UCLA will be in a BCS bowl in 3 years if the trio stays together. And I am actually serious.
