LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC!!!

Alright, time to get this blog rollin…….After a 2 month hiatus, we will be posting before and after every Bruin game from this point forward.  First of all, let’s focus on THE PRINCE…..

In the eyes of the UCLA fan base, Luc has had an up and down season.  A lot can be attributed to the high expectations from his play in the tourney last year.  The beginning of this season, especially against BYU, he looked like the best player on our team, and a lottery pick.  Then his stats and his play went on cruise control, as he put up his usual stats.  Most Bruins fans seemed to be disappointed in his play….but there was really no change from last year statistically.  The one difference:  Expectations!!!!

We wanted him to take over games now.  We wanted him to get 15 boards a game.  We wanted him to play like a lottery pick.  We wanted him to make a jumper consistently.

In his mid season funk (rumors of injury to his knee), we were confused as to what had happened out our Prince.  Moute was not kicking any Boute.  In the Oregon game, things all changed.  We have been going to most of the games this year, and he looked the most fresh and active all season.  With his quickness and size, there is no 3 or 4 in the nation that can handle him.  3’s are too small and 4’s are too slow.  And low and behold, in the SC game , his jumper was sweeet butta.  With his jumper against SC, it illustrates how much of a match-up problem he is for opposing teams.  He can take 3’s to the rack with his strength, and hopefully, now he can stretch the defense by making his outside shots.  I believe the light bulb has turned on, and now he knows he is usually the most talented player on the court.

On D, the block of Gabe Pruitt at the end of the game was huge.  And although Nick Young made some very difficult shots, Luc played great d the majority of the game.  Which brings up one more point…….on defense, Luc’s versatility is simply a weapon.  In the final 4, he guarded Big “Cry” Baby (6,8 350lbs at the time), and in the past game, he guarded a future NBA sg /sf (Young).  His versatility on both ends of the floor enables Howland to exploit matchups and very his sets…..Once again, MOUTE KICKS BOUTE…..  More on the team a bit later…
